In 1987 when I went into business I started with Three Thousand dollars and worked out of my garage. Today Larry’s Boots is located half way between St. Louis and Kansas City Missouri at the Midway Travel Plaza in a 10,000sqft building. We have more than Ten Thousand pairs of shoes and boots. We carry dress boots, hunting boots, work boots and specialty boots up to size 17. Hats from Stetson, Resistol, Serratelli, and Bailey. Major brands of clothing like Wrangler, Levi, Carhartt, Cinch and Cruel Girl. We also have clothing and footwear for children.
Originally called Trails West Western Store, the business moved from my garage to a small location in Columbia Mo., then to a larger store next to a shopping center. In the mid-’90s, I opened a second location at Midway Travel Plaza.
My son joined me in 1995 to help manage the stores. He brought his wife, into the operation in 1998. I think the secret to the business’s growth has been keeping the shelves stocked and customers happy.
We opened the current larger location on January 22, 2000. This is a convenient location, because Highway 40 and Interstate 70 intersect at this busy exit and it’s only a couple of miles from Columbia Mo.
